MOVE — A Dynamic Installation for APTA’s Corporate HQ
VISTA: NYC steel light + life 3 @ 48” x 28” hand cut glass, concrete, paint c Heather Hancock 2025
Project Overview
This large-scale installation for APTA’s corporate headquarters lobby translates the organization's core value—“MOVE”—into ten global languages. Spanning ten panels at 6’ x 1.5’ each, the artwork integrates hand-cut glass and concrete, creating a rhythmic interplay of texture, light, and motion.
Concept & Inspiration
The design reflects movement not just in theme but in experience. Abstracted typography and layered glass elements shift with changing perspectives, activating shimmer as viewers pass by. The integration of APTA’s corporate palette reinforces brand identity while allowing the artwork to remain fluid and dynamic.
Material & Execution
Hand-cut glass forms intricate patterns, contrasted by simple, bold color rhythms. The combination of luminous glass and matte concrete provides depth, while the interactive shimmer effect invites engagement, reinforcing the idea of motion central to APTA’s mission.
Impact
Positioned in a high-traffic lobby, the installation embodies APTA’s values in an ever-changing visual experience. As employees and visitors move past, the panels come to life, making the core message of “MOVE” both a visual and physical experience.
