Context

Located at the entry to a healthcare waiting area, VISTA Prairie Bloom introduces a reference to the Midwestern landscape within a contemporary healthcare environment. Against a restrained palette of pale walls, deep teal, and charcoal, the artwork provides a distinct visual focal point while connecting the interior to the natural world.

Design Language

VISTA translates the patterns of landscape into geometric form, color, and texture. In Prairie Bloom, vertical lines evoke prairie grasses, geometric blooms punctuate the composition, and an expansive blue sky suggests openness. Rather than depicting a literal landscape, the work distills the prairie into a visual language of growth, rhythm, and space.

Design Response

A dark ground creates contrast for the varied greens, blues, and turquoise of the grasses, while luminous geometric blooms draw the eye upward. The blue sky balances the density below, introducing lightness and openness.

Hand-cut glass inlay adds dimensionality and subtle shifts in color and reflection. The palette complements the interior's deep teal accent while bringing a more expressive layer to the architecture.

Outcome

Installed beside the deep teal entry, Prairie Bloom establishes a focal point that balances architectural structure with organic movement. Its reflective glass and textured surfaces respond to ambient light, bringing material depth and a connection to the Midwestern landscape into the waiting area.
