Project Overview
VISTA: Folded Hills is a triptych (3 panels @ 5' x 2') installed in the elevator lobby of a newly constructed healthcare facility in New Jersey, in collaboration with KBAA. The piece was commissioned to create a calming, contemporary visual experience rooted in the local landscape.
Concept + Execution
Drawing inspiration from the nearby Bear Mountain Trail in Harriman State Park, the artwork abstracts the region’s low, folded hills into rhythmic geometric forms. Glass inlay introduces shimmering lines and pools—evoking rivers and waterfalls—within a textural concrete field. A soft palette of greens and blues reinforces the sense of stillness and natural grounding, while subtle material shifts provide layered engagement over time.
Impact
The piece offers a moment of quiet reflection in a transitional space, designed to center both patients and staff. By referencing familiar topography in a refined, abstract language, the work connects place and purpose—supporting wellness through beauty and belonging.
