Overview
These clients wanted a statement piece for their 1905 home, newly renovated with a contemporary industrial twist. They envisioned my architectural abstractions connecting with their contemporary aesthetic with industrial elements and finishes.
Project Goals
To create a bold visual statement for a dining room wall at the center of their newly renovated home. Flooded with natural light from side bay windows animates glass and provides a visual experience that changes throughout the day.
Process
After a studio visit, the clients selected an abstraction of the exterior beam structure of the 875 N. Michigan Ave building in Chicago. They determined that a horizontal piece at a full 60” x 36” would hold the wall in their dining room. The horizontal orientation created an expanded view for exploring the urban beauty found in these architectural structural elements. Work was delivered framed and ready to hang with 4-5 week turn-around.
