Cities are often experienced as a choice between the built environment and the natural world. REFLECT 4.18: Urban Canopy explores the moments where those two systems overlap.
Viewed from street level, crisp architectural lines converge toward the sky while branches and leaves frame the composition from above. The geometric rhythm of glass, steel, and structure is softened by organic forms that suggest the resilience of urban forests and the restorative presence of nature within the city.
The piece is constructed from hundreds of hand-cut glass elements, layered over a textured architectural surface with subtle embossed typography that becomes visible as light moves across the work. Reflective, translucent, and matte glasses create shifting depth throughout the day, allowing the artwork to change with its environment.
Rather than treating architecture and nature as opposing forces, Urban Canopy presents them as complementary—demonstrating how thoughtful design can create spaces that feel both energized and restorative.
